Issue 7

TitleUse of frames
StatusReported
PriorityMedium
Description

Frames have issues with bookmarking and do not work on some mobile devices. They can also cause accessibility problems, though newer browsers and AT deal with them well. Frames also result in “clipping” of navigation when text size is enlarged.

We like the work we’ve seen that uses CSS to layout pages. We hope Desire2Learn continues to move in this direction and stops using frames entirely.

We are aware that clients would prefer that we do not use frames and are moving towards designs that do not rely on them. This involves major design changes and may take awhile to complete. In the mean time all frames have concise, descriptive titles.
