Issue List: Issue: Help users handle pop-up blockers

Some tools, such as Email and Discussions, use a pop-up window for composing new messages. This pop-up does not appear if a user has a pop-up blocker enabled and does not have the Learning Environment saved as a trusted site. When this happens, many users think they cannot compose messages.

e discussed this issue at the September 5th, 2008 meeting and decided that it is both a usability and an accessibility issue. We also decided that the issue is not that the Learning Environment uses pop-ups, but that there is not sufficient information to help users troubleshoot how to use the Learning Environment with pop-up blockers. Suggestions include: building a pop-up blocker check into the System Check tool, adding inline help in the Learning Environment, and adding a note in the documentation.
