About Elsevier Accessibility/Usability Collaboration

Elsevier is one of the largest electronic journal and book publishing companies in the world. Elsevier library resources is used heavily in most Higher Ed Institutions including the University of Illinois.

To improve the accessibility/usability Elsevier library resources we have started this collaboration group to work together with Elsevier and other interested entities and individuals. We are very positive that this collaboration group will make Elsevier more usable/accessible so that everyone can benefit from it, including people with disabilities.

We welcome anyone who is interested in improving the accessibility of Elsevier to join this group. You don’t need to be a technical guru or accessibility expert to join this group; however, it is expected that you are familiar with the basics of accessibility and are willing to dedicate a few hours each month to this collaboration effort.

How to Become a Member

Membership requires 3 simple steps:

1. Complete the Non-disclosure Agreement.
2. Join the Elsevier Accessibility Interest Group.
3. Subscribe to the Elsevier Accessibility Mailing List.

Non-Disclosure Agreement

• Because members of this group will have access to Elsevier proprietary information and software, it is required that you sign an Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). Please drop an e-mail to hadi@illinois.edu so the NDA form can be sent to you.

Becoming a Member of this Group

• Because all of the proprietary information will be posted to the Elsevier Accessibility Interest Group website, you need to register with our collaboration application and join the Elsevier Accessibility Interest Group.
• If you haven’t registered with the AthenPro yet, then you need to register first.
• If you are already a member of AthenPro Collaboration, then you do not need to re-register again. Simply go to Join group page and select Elsevier Accessibility/Usability Collaboration and submit.

Mailing List Subscription

• We use a mailing list to send announcement, meeting agenda/minutes, and discuss issues. Our mailing list archive is located at https://listserv.illinois.edu/archives/elsevier.html
• To subscribe to the mailing list, go to the mailing list subscription page at https://listserv.illinois.edu/wa.cgi?SUBED1=elsevier&A=1.
• You can subscribe to the mailing list by sending an e-mail to listserv@listserv.illinois.edu with the following command in the body of your e-mail:
