Section 508 Draft Standards
  • JG: New draft Section 508 standards

  • MD: no
  • MR: A little bit

    • People liked references to WCAG 2.0
    • People say we need a new standard
    • People documented missing information in new standards
    • Discussion of is this process working
  • MR: I just WCAG 2.0
  • MS: Access board seems to separate web from other technologies
  • MS: These seems to make IITAA reference to Section 508 is a problem.
  • MS: We may need to move to WCAG 2.0 for IITAA for web.
  • MS: Any other thoughts?
  • MR: I think we need to move to WCAG 2.0
  • CB: I think we need to move in that directions
  • other people say yes
  • MS: We can tell vendors that WCAG 2.0 is the new standard
  • MS: Any downside to using WCAG 2.0?
  • JM: Some vendors want Section 508
  • JG: My only concern is the state of the WCAG 2.0 techniques document
  • MS: We could put together our own techniques document
  • MS: The two big complaints of the WCAG techniques document is that they are complex and
  • MS: We could provide a new type of sort and filter
  • MR: We need to make it easier for developers
  • MS: We need something that works, we can say this is what works
  • MS: We can have advisory techniques, and push into the WCAG techniques
  • MR: We also have the option to use any technique as long as you can demonstrate
  • MS: I was hoping the access board was going to help us, but we will have to build our own
  • JG: We should have a perspective in any techniques document
  • JG: I would like to see more support in getting techniques document
  • JG: I would like to continue to work on rules and design patterns
  • MS: I am going to work on a draft update to IITAA revision, do we need to adjust
  • MS: I would like to run it by this group first and before we distribute it
  • MS: Maybe the next call we should go through the document in detail
  • JG: I think we need a FTF meeting
  • JG: Any other thoughts?
